A project to help local grape growers was recently submitted by scientists at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) and subsequently was awardedfrom a competitive process established by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

IALR made fourteen regional teachers’ project wishes come true through Donors Choose, an online charity that helps students in need.

The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research’s (IALR) Center for Sustainable and Renewable Resources (CSRR) received more good news last week. Scott Lowman, a scientist who recently earned his PhD through IALR’s partnership with Virginia Tech in January 2014 received word that his work has been accepted for publication.
